October 7, 2017: Keeping the Tradition

This year we’re celebrating the where we’ve been, and where we’re going. Anchorage Ski Club built Arctic Valley Ski Area from the ground up, as a grass-roots ski area supported by the community. Never owned by a big corporation or developer, we’ve pulled together as a community to fund the ski area over the past 75+ years. That tradition continues today, as our supporters continue to help fund improvements and upgrades to the ski area. In the past 10 years, we’ve completed several projects:

  • $54,000 replacement of the lodge’s septic system
  • $65,000 in upgrades to the T-bar
  • $134,000 in upgrades to Chair 2 (including a just-completed haul rope replacement)
  • $50,000 installation of tubing park and snowmaking
  • $50,000 in improvements to trailhead facilities and hiking trails
  • $50,000 to purchase a new winch cat and upgrades to our other groomer

None of these would be possible without the support of our community. Looking ahead, we have plans for upgrades to the lodge, T-bar noise mitigation, lighting, and snowmaking. Join us on October 7 to celebrate all that we’ve accomplished and help us reach our next set of goals!


Adults: $55 in advance, $60 at the door
Kids (5-12): $20 in advance, $25 at the door
Cynosure Lounge: $30 (not available at the door) – requires regular ticket purchase

The evening will start with the Cynosure Lounge opening at 4:30, offering a hosted selection of Cynosure Brewing beers and appetizers. The Lounge also offers early access to the silent auction items. Lounge tickets are available through advanced online sale only.

The silent auction bidding begins at 5:00pm. Enjoy appetizers, beer, and wine while bidding on sports gear, clothing, artwork, gift certificates and other unique items. There will be three auction sections, each closing 20 minutes apart. The first section closes at 6:00, so be sure to be there when the doors open!

Dinner will be served at 7pm, after the last silent auction table has closed. Peppercini’s will be catering dinner this year – this year they’ve prepared a custom traditional menu for us! We’ll have a selection of fine local beers, and wine available with dinner.

At 7:30 the winner of the raffle will be drawn. The prize is any item from the live auction catalog! Afterwards the live auction will start, followed by the dessert auction.
