It’s opening weekend at Arctic Valley!

This is our earliest opening in recent history, and we couldn’t be happier to get on the mountain. Though things are necessarily different this year, we’re happy to have our favorite people (you!) at Arctic Valley to ski and snowboard this winter.

This weekend, we plan to have Ptarmigan Bowl and the beginner area off the T-bar groomed. We’ve got a couple inches of snow this week to freshen up the snow underneath, and should have some great riding to start off the season!

Though coverage is still early season, it’s incredible for this time of year. Do watch out for thin spots and rocks poking through on the ridges, and in the Fingers (under Chair 2 approached from the T-bar). In general, there’s great coverage in the bowls, so when in doubt stay in the middle of those runs!

Our new operations schedule kicks off this weekend, with expanded hours for our lifts! We’ll be operating the T-bar and Chair 1 from 10:30-3:30, plus Chair 2 from about 11:30-3:30. We’re aiming to be more predictable with our lift ops schedule, and keep Chair 1 open all day – especially for our snowboarding friends who really like that lift.

You’ll notice a new menu in the kitchen this winter! We’re working with 49th State Brewing to bring new and higher quality food items, plus more varieties of beer, to the lodge. For this weekend we’ll have a limited menu, with flatbread pizzas – Cheese, Pepperoni, and Supreme – plus chili and a soup of the day. Look for more menu items starting next week.

Our dining area is currently closed, but we do have a few picnic tables out on the front lawn, and of course you’re welcome to eat on the lifts, or take your food to your car.

Due to the indoor dining restrictions in Anchorage, alcohol service is limited to the back deck. To access this area, please walk around the lodge. Note that alcohol can only be consumed on the deck, while seated at a table. You can purchase a beer just inside the back door of the lodge.

A few things to remember this winter:

  • Total mountain capacity is limited to 400 guests
  • Day tickets are available for purchase in advance on our website
  • Season pass holders (Black Diamond members) do not require reservations
  • The lodge is currently only open for restroom use
  • Face covering use is required in the lodge, in lift lines, while on lifts, and in the unloading zones.
  • Please review our COVID plan before arriving!
