We made it! Thanks to everyone who came out and rode with us the past two weekends, purchased season passes, memberships, food, beers, and those who made a donation, plus some help from Mother Nature, and of course our employees, we’ll be open again on Saturday May 3rd! This marks the 5th year in a row (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025) that we’ve been open into May, and the last ski area operating in Alaska.
Join us for one last celebration of this weird winter that was, and the spring that just won’t quite start (we saw some snowflakes on the webcam Monday). We’ll be open noon-6pm for your skiing & riding pleasure. Lift plans are TBD – we’re getting really thin on snow at the bottom of Chair 1 in particular, so will need to see how that holds up and what we can do to get some snow down there this week.
Since we’re open in May, this will be a bonus Members Ski Free / Bring A Friend day! Our regular and life members will ride for free, and our season pass holders can get a free lift ticket for a friend. Our exchange deal with Skeetawk and Hilltop is still valid too! Season pass holders at both ski areas can get a free pass (if they haven’t already redeemed their 3 free passes for the season).
There will be live music in the Afterglow Pub in the afternoon, we still have great beer on tap, and will have a simplified menu in the Arctic Valley Cafe. Ski & snowboard rentals will be available.
May 3rd happens to be the Kentucky Derby, so we’re going to have a costume contest with two divisions: Kentucky Derby & Retro Day. Wear either your best Kentucky Derby hat (for the contest only – wear your helmet on the slopes!) or your best Retro outfit. We’ll have a contest at the end of the day in the Afterglow Pub, with lift tickets for next season as prizes.
Want to ride for free on Saturday? Buy your season pass for next year now and ride free!
Want to help out the scrappy ski area that consistently stays open later than anyone else in the state? Make a donation!
