Join us to celebrate spring with our annual Merry Marmot Festival on April 1st! We’ll have activities, live music, fresh local beer, and great food.
Cost
Merry Marmot is a free event for spectators! For participants, adults pay $25, kids 12 & under are $10, and season pass holders and life members are free. All participants need to complete a waiver.
Schedule
- 11am “The Big Climb” fat tire bike race (see below for add’l info)
- 12:30pm “Irish Downhill” fat tire bike race
- 2pm-4pm Dual Slalom Race: Make as many runs as you want, fastest one counts! Course on skier’s right of the T-bar
- 5pm Politically Correct Mass-Start Downhill. Top of Chair 2
- 5:30pm Costume Contest – wear your best ski outfit! Kids and Adults categories. Rope Tow area
- 6:30pm Dummy Launch!
Food
- Rich’s Taco Bar: 4-6:30pm
- Adults: $24 – including a beer or soft drink
- Kids (under 13): $18 – includes a soft drink
- Chicken or carnitas tacos with Spanish rice and refried beans
- Please note: the kitchen will close at 2pm to prepare for the taco bar

Bike Race Info
- The Big Climb: This race starts above the lodge, descends towards the old military ski area, then turns and climbs back uphill, past the lodge, and follows the valley up past the tube park and Chair 2 all the way to the saddle overlooking South Fork of Eagle River. This is about 1000′ of climbing over 2.25 miles.
- Irish Downhill: Start at the saddle (finish of the The Big Climb race) and descend almost 800′ to the tube park in just over a mile. This is all downhill – it’s a fast, exciting race!
- Cost is $25 for either or both races.
