Arctic Valley’s public use cabin at the top of Chair 2 is an awesome place to spend a night! With views of Anchorage and Cook Inlet, and the solitude of being miles from the city, it’s an experience like no other.
The cabin sleeps 4 people on 2 queen-sized plywood bunks. The large deck on the front side is a great place to relax and enjoy the view. For blustery days, there’s a counter inside with seating, and adjustable electric heat. Electrical outlets are provided for charging devices, and AT&T cell service is generally good. An incinerator toilet is provided.
There is no running water or trash service in the cabin. Pack out what you pack in, and bring your own water. Please leave the cabin tidy for the next guests. Campfires are not allowed at Arctic Valley. Pets are allowed in the cabin.
Please note that the cabin is hike-in only. Due to the expense and logistics involved in operating the chairlift, we are not offering rides to public use cabin guests at this time.
For fall 2020, the cabin is not 100% complete. We will continue to chip away at items this fall, but currently the following items are not completed:
- Countertops (plywood instead of the permanent tops)
- Trim (doors/windows/floor)
- Pads for the bunkbeds
- 2-burner electric cook top & microwave
- Incinerator toilet
- Adjustable electric heaters
- 2 queen-sized plywood bunks (sleeps 4)
- Electrical outlets
- Huge deck & amazing views!
Once made, your reservation is not refundable and date changes are not allowed. If you can’t make your reservation, please pass it along to a friend. Beware in the fall – winter and snow sometimes comes early to Arctic Valley! It’s not uncommon to have snow at the top of the mountain at the end of September. Please note that the military occasionally does live fire exercises on Arctic Valley Road that delay traffic. You can find the schedule here.
The cabin is available for rent from May 1st to mid-October. Check in time is 2pm, and check out is 12pm. You will be emailed a code to access the cabin. Please email email@example.com if you haven’t received it 24 hours prior to check in.
The cabin costs $75 per night for public and Anchorage Ski Club/Arctic Valley basic members; $50 for current year Anchorage Ski Club/Arctic Valley regular, Black Diamond, or life members. If you’re not certain of your membership status, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can purchase a membership here.
Please bring cleaning supplies, and wipe down surfaces in the cabin when you arrive. As with all activities right now, we recommend only household groups stay together in the cabin.
