Arctic Valley Ski Area hires a small staff of paid summer and winter seasonal employees so we can provide a consistent experience to our guests. Please note that some of these positions are weekend-only, some full-time, and all are based at Arctic Valley Ski Area.

Arctic Valley Ski Area is owned and operated by the Anchorage Ski Club, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We are a membership-based, community organization. Arctic Valley Ski Area is seeking a barista and kitchen cashier to work Saturdays & Sundays from early December to mid April.

Applicants should have some prior experience making espresso drinks. Applicants must hold a Municipality of Anchorage Food Handler’s Card (can be obtained after hiring). Duties include making espresso, taking orders (both coffee and food), running orders, cleaning the kitchen, and other duties as assigned.

Pay is $14 per hour plus tips, and includes a shift meal. Upon completion of the season, employee will receive an additional $2 per hour worked bonus. 

Reliable, winter-conditions-ready transportation is a must. A background check will be performed on all applicants. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age.

Arctic Valley Ski Area is hiring ticket sellers to work Saturdays & Sundays from early December to early April.

Duties include selling lift and tubing tickets, taking food orders, selling merchandise, answering guest inquiries in person, via phone, and email, resolving customer issues, and assisting with janitorial duties. 

Pay is $14 per hour, including a free lunch and hot drinks. Upon completion of the season, employee will receive an additional $2 per hour worked bonus. 

This is an entry-level position – no prior experience is required. A background check will be performed on all applicants. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age.

Arctic Valley Ski Area is hiring lift operators to work Saturdays & Sundays from late November to early April at Arctic Valley Ski Area. This position has the option to pick up Thu/Fri shifts beginning in March.

This is an entry level position, and no prior experience is required. Applicants must be at least intermediate skiers or snowboarders, with their own equipment, and outdoor, winter-ready clothing.

Duties will include loading lifts, monitoring the unloading of lifts, shoveling, assisting with maintenance, interacting with guests, and other duties as assigned. Long periods of time standing outside are required.

Pay is $15/hr, plus a $2/hr bonus at the end of the season, and a $10 daily kitchen credit, plus hot drinks.

A high level of responsibility and reliability are absolutely required. Reliable, winter-conditions-ready transportation is a must – it isn’t always easy to get to the hill! A background check will be performed on all applicants. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Arctic Valley Ski Area is hiring a paid Marketing Intern for the 2023-24 winter ski season. This is a great opportunity to develop skills marketing to outdoor recreational users, while getting paid and having a lot of fun!

Intern duties include:

  • Creating and curating a photo/video library for marketing purposes
  • Writing and designing weekly marketing emails
  • Creating social media posts
  • Designing eye catching graphics for use in social media, print advertising, and more
  • Updating Arctic Valley’s website

This position requires one day on the mountain per week (typically Saturday), taking photos, video, doing interviews, and other tasks as assigned. Additional remote work hours during the week will be used to write marketing emails, update the website, and create social media posts. Expected time commitment is 12-16 hours per week. Pay is $15/hour.

Applicants must be at least intermediate skiers or snowboarders with their own gear. Applicants must have reliable winter-ready transportation to Arctic Valley.

Arctic Valley Ski Area is hiring ski patrollers for the winter season. This position is Saturdays & Sundays until March, then Thursday-Sunday for the remainder of the season (mid-late April). 

Current Outdoor Emergency Care or equivalent certification is required (course may be challenged if applicant has an appropriate medical background). Background on a snow safety team and relevant avalanche class certifications are helpful, but not required.

Pay is $15 per hour, plus a $2/hr bonus for completing the season, a $10 daily kitchen credit, and free hot drinks.

Arctic Valley Ski Area is hiring snowmakers for fall 2023. This is a temporary position, beginning in October or early November as temperatures allow, and running through late November or later as needed.

Pay is $18/hr. After completion of the season, employees may move to tube park crew or lift operations, or take a season pass.

Afternoon/evening and night shifts are available – snowmaking runs 24/7. Overnight shifts are 12 hours (4 hrs overtime), evening shifts are 8 hours.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. No prior experience is required, though a strong work ethic and willingness to work varied shifts is required.

Arctic Valley Ski Area is hiring tube park operators to work Thursday-Sunday from late November to early April at Arctic Valley Ski Area. This position combines well with our snowmaking opportunities in November.

This is an entry-level position, with no prior experience required. Duties include loading and unloading the tubing lift, shoveling, interacting with guests, and other duties as assigned. Long periods of time working outside are required.

Pay is $16 per hour, including a free lunch and hot drinks. Upon completion of the season, employee will receive an additional $2 per hour worked bonus. When possible, tube park operators have the opportunity to take ride breaks during the day.
